Client :
A game art and development studio in Pune, India, with a Barcelona office
Engagement Period:
February–May 2025
We sent this studio an agreement in February 2025. It came back signed the same day. The next morning they opened four positions for their India office. We immediately asked who owned the Barcelona lead roles, because the engagement spanned two geographies and it is better to establish that on day one than to discover it in week six.
Then the useful part. Before sourcing anyone new, we went back through our own records and found a character artist who had been through this studio's process five months earlier and had reached offer stage. He was open to a move again. We surfaced him, and the client re-opened his assessment.
In March the studio paused hiring while they reviewed headcount , a sensible thing to do and something every growing company does periodically. We used the time to keep building the pipeline so that nothing was lost when they restarted. When the panel raised a fair question about one senior candidate's history of moves, we set out the context behind it, and they agreed he was worth a first conversation.
A UI/UX artist was submitted on 1 April and her offer was confirmed on 9 May.
"The best candidate for a role is sometimes one you already met."
